A travel card can be useful, but it can also cost more than it returns. We compare points, cash, fees, and credits so you can inspect the assumptions before deciding.
Honest Points is built the opposite way. It's an independent decision engine that runs the real numbers for your specific trip and gives one honest verdict: use your points, get a specific card, or just pay cash. The whole product is the math, shown in full, so you never have to take our word for it.
We show the baseline, the assumptions, and the costs used in each calculation. These are estimates, not a promise about your redemption.
When paying cash beats getting a card, we say so plainly, and that verdict earns nothing by itself. The optimizer returns 'just pay cash' as often as the math demands. Few points sites are built to do that.
The ranking code does not read payout fields. Commissions may differ by link. Every affiliate link is labeled at the point of the click: paid or not.
Offers and valuations show a Source date. It records the date attached to the source figures, not a new issuer re-review or a live price check.
Our pay doesn't change the answer.
How we make money, honestly: we may earn a commission if you apply for a card through one of our links, and a small commission if you book a hotel through one of our links. Both at no cost to you. Our ranking never depends on payout fields. A “pay cash” verdict earns us nothing by itself; if you then book a hotel through one of our links, we may earn a commission. Offers and terms change constantly; always confirm current details on the provider's site before booking.

Why we'll tell you to skip a card
Card offers and point valuations change. Valuations carry a Source date of 2026-06-08. Each card also has a source date. Picks appear only among cards with current issuer-checked terms. Other cards remain labeled estimates. Source dates do not guarantee current terms. The full valuation methodology: every baseline, and why we plan at the conservative floor instead of the marketing ceiling: is public.
Honest Points is an independent project, not owned by a bank, card issuer, or media conglomerate. That independence is the whole point: no sales team, no quotas, no advertiser deciding which card gets the glowing review. Just a transparent tool and the math behind it.
We're not financial advisors and this isn't personalized financial advice: it's a research tool. Always confirm current offers and terms on the provider's own site before you apply.
See it work on your actual trip.
One honest verdict, with the math you can audit.
